Protection from a deer in the road

Hello saints!

I sometimes have interesting adventures when I drive from Hastings, MI to Lansing and back. Tonight was such a night.

I was driving along and was perhaps 10 minutes from home. I think I was praying in the Spirit or praising God or perhaps a combination of the two. Suddenly, I looked ahead and saw a deer standing in my driving lane. I'd say I had less than 2 seconds to make a decision. There were no oncoming cars, so I had just enough time to quickly swerve into the passing lane. Just as I was going by the deer, he or she started slowly walking towards my car. As I went by, I heard a slight "THONK" sound. "Say.. haven't I heard that noise before? Hmm.. yes.. but where?? Is it.. the sound of children playing in a park? no.. no.. perhaps it is the sound of a busy bowling alley? Not quite.. ah, yes.. it's that old familiar sound of a deer slowly walking into my car as I'm passing by it at 55mph.. yes.. that takes me back."

Ok, so deer are not the brightest creatures. I did have some venison sausage recently. Perhaps this was payback. Ha.. no.. anyway.. back to the testimony.

After this was all over in a matter of a couple seconds, I started reflecting on it. My first thought was to praise God for protecting me and the car from serious damage. Praise the Lord! My second thought was, "well, perhaps I'll have a dent on my car somewhere". I didn't care at all, even if that were the case. I just kept driving along. It's just amazing how unaffected I was by the situation! That's a serious testimony to me. I wasn't concerned about a deer or the state of my car. I live to serve the Lord! I know He protects me. His Word declares it and I believe it.

So, I got home safely and then checked the right side of my car for any possible damage. Well, I took a good look and there is no visible damage that I saw! Praise the Lord.

Yes, the Lord is good.

Nahum 1:7

The Lord is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble, and He knoweth them that trust in Him.
