Bible Teachings - John 14:16-17 - Galatians 4:6 - Baptism of the Holy Spirit

John 14:16-17

And I will pray the Father, and He shall give you another Comforter, that He may abide with you for ever; Even the Spirit of Truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth Him not, neither knoweth Him: but ye know Him; for He dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.

Galatians 4:6

And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father.

Tonight I was shown by the Lord how well Galatians 4:6 goes with John 14:16-17. "because ye are sons", God is able to baptize us with His Holy Spirit, but not until then. We must be Born Again before the Holy Spirit can come and indwell us! The world, the unsaved, the filthy, the unrighteous, the sons of satan are not fit to have the Holy Spirit indwell them. Being filled with the Holy Spirit is not a one step process. First they must receive the "washing of regeneration" by the Spirit in Titus 3:5. Once they receive this work of the Holy Spirit (by faith in Jesus Christ), then they are washed and clean and ready to have the Holy Spirit indwell them.

Praise the Lord for this remarkable Truth we can all experience! I also thank Him for the Truth of the separate experiences.

Those who say that being Born Again is the same experience as receiving the baptism of the Holy Spirit, are, in effect, saying:

1) Passover is the same feast as Pentecost.

2) Today is the same day as 50 days from now.

3) Water (a type of the Word - Born Again experience) is the same thing as Oil (a type of the Holy Spirit - BHS - anointing).

If you've ever put oil and water in the same jar, you'll see that the oil and water do not mix. Sure, one can shake the jar and try to get them to mix, but it just doesn't work. The oil will always float on top of the water. Water #1, Oil #2, from the ground up. Isn't that just how God works?
